Privacy Policy

MycoSnap (“we”, “the App”) is a mushroom safety reference app. We do not require accounts or logins. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the App and our API at mycosnap.qalangtao.com.

1. Who this applies to

This policy covers the iOS app MycoSnap and the identification service hosted at https://mycosnap.qalangtao.com.

2. Data we process

• Photos you choose to analyze: When you tap identify, a compressed JPEG of your photo is sent over HTTPS to our server, then forwarded to Google’s Gemini API for analysis.
• Anonymous usage identifiers: A random app user ID (from the device / RevenueCat anonymous ID) is used to enforce daily free/premium limits. It is not your name, email, or Apple ID.
• On-device data: Identification history thumbnails, favorites, and legal consent flags are stored only on your device unless you clear them in Settings.
• Purchase status: If you subscribe, Apple processes payment. We may check subscription status via RevenueCat to unlock Premium features. We do not receive your full payment card details.

3. How photos are handled

• Photos are used solely to generate an AI identification / safety-oriented result for that request.
• Our server does not permanently store your original photos. Transient processing may occur in memory; optional short-lived technical caches use image hashes (not browsable photo galleries).
• Google Gemini processes the image according to Google’s terms and privacy documentation for generative AI APIs. Do not submit photos of people, children, or sensitive personal scenes.

4. What we do not do

• No user accounts, no social feed, no advertising ID tracking SDKs in the App.
• No sale of personal information.
• No analytics SDKs beyond what Apple may collect under your system privacy settings.

5. Legal basis / your choices (general)

You control camera and photo library permissions in iOS Settings. You may clear local history and favorites in the App. You can stop using identify features at any time. Uninstalling the App removes on-device data.

6. Children

The App is rated for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Guardians should supervise foraging-related use; results are never a substitute for expert advice.

7. International processing

Requests may be processed on servers in regions where we or Google operate infrastructure. By using identify, you understand your image is transmitted internationally for AI processing.

8. Data retention

• Quota counters and technical logs on our server (user ID, day counts, hashes) may be retained to prevent abuse and operate free/premium limits.
• We do not keep a personal photo library of users.

9. Security

API traffic uses HTTPS. Gemini API keys are stored on the server, not inside the iOS app binary.
